From the 1940 Edward Vom Hofe catalog:

EDWARD vom HOFE & CO.'S "RESTIGOUCHE"
CUSTOM BUILT SALMON AND GRILSE FLY REELS
SINGLE ACTION
These wonderful reels have been made by us for seventy-three years. There
are no Salmon anglers in any part of the world who have not used them and
having done so cannot praise too highly their sterling qualities.
They are the lightest reel made, are equipped with a double toned back Sliding
Click located on the handle side of reel By this method the use of the click
is optional with the angler. They have also OUr Adjustable Automatic Tension
drag located on left side of reel where it can be operated while playing
a fish. It can be adjusted from the highest to the lowest tension and its
action is so smooth that there is never any danger of an abrupt stop or
jerk to break line or leader. They have rolling bars back and front for
the protection of enamel on lines.
To Oil: Slide name plate on left side of reel to one side; fill with oil,
also a drop of oil under handle at center.
No. 423. Size 1/0, diameter 31/8 in., width 1-3/16 in., weight 71/4 oz .$50.00

with the Walker Reel Co.) in his basement in NYC. Offered are 2 of his reels,

B. 1/0 model #100, single action, RHW. Salmon reels in 1/0 though listed
in many reel catalogs for years are extremely rare. Excellent condtion.

To collect or to just fish, this reel fits the bill. McVicker's was at
one time a stockholder in the Payne Rod Co. McVicker's reels are hige quality,
heavily machined, adjustable drag and ball-bearing. There was no other model
except the top of the line Bushkill which came in only the Trout and Salmon
sizes. Sold mainly through Abercrombie and Fitch in limited numbers. Very
good condtion. Price $450.

Zwarg worked for many years at the Edward Vom Hofe factory and
after WWII when EVH didn't re-open decided to continue the tradition. Zwarg
reels were initially produced in Brooklyn, NY and then the factory was moved
to Florida. This 2/0 marked St. Petersburg, FL is a Laurentian #400, multiplier,
