freshwater to light salt, this is the reel that makes the transition. A
universal do it-all.

our original reel in 1988. It puts the skids to everything from Mulchatna
River sockeye salmon to Long Island Sound stripers to Christmas Island bonefish
and trevally.

anglers consider this the perfect bonefish, steelihead/Atlantic salmon reel.
It's also stopped dorado, skipjack tuna and, believe it or not, a marlin!

for tarpon, albacore, false albacore, Atlantic sailfish, yellowfin tuna,
barracuda and other big, fast fish.

answer to Homosassa tarpon, wahoo, sailfish, striped marlin. blue marlin,

fish" reel, engineered to take the stress and strain of all the large
species in the sea
4N Model 10-,11- and 12weight lines. Suited
for the same species as the 4, however many anglers enjoy the advantage
of a slightly faster line retrieve due to the narrow spool.

Narrow Spool
Reels offer a number of distinct advantages, not the least is the fact that
since line is in larger coils, there is less chance of kinking or memory
plus amazingly fast line pick-up. The 3N, 4N and 4.5N accept both Large
Arbor Rapid Retrieve and Standard Big Came Spools on an interchangeable
basis. They are remarkably Abel.
FlyFishingNetwork
standard offering of Abel Reels are the Ported Models. If you wish the non
ported model, deduct $ 60. from the charged price, or $ 48. from the FlyBuy
price. Besides being the epitome of reelmakers art, looking extremely attractive,
Ported (ventilated) models weigh approximately 1/2 ounce less.
The Rapid
Retrieved series forms a different concept reels that can accept both large
arbor and standard spools on an interchangeable basis. Large Arbor RR spools
offer some distinct advantages including:
With the Abel large arbor Rapid Retrieve (or RR) reels, there is another
distinct and cost-effective advantage: Since spools are 100% interchangeable,
anglers can utilize one frame and drag system to create a reel capable of
fishing upwards of six line weights.
Engineered to take the stress of Spectra or similar braided backing, you
will have the capacity to use your RR model for an fresh and saltwater gamefish.
The five Rapid Retrieve models come with Ported frames.
If you already own a standard 3N, 3, 4N, 4.5N or 5, you may convert it to
an RR by simply adding an extra large arbor spool.
The four models of Anti-Reverse reels have revolutionized the thinking
of big game fly-fishers seeking big fish, tuna, wahoo, kingfish and other
bluewater speedsters. What does Anti/Reverse mean? Simply put, the handle
doesn't turn when line goes out, therefore no more cracked knuckles, bruised
fingers or broken nails . . . a valid consideration for pianists, surgeons,
jewelers and politicians. Abel A/Rs have fewer moving parts, are light weight,
and utilize a unique ball bearing design. Each A/R reel comes with its own
finger wrench for removing the spool.
Line and backing capacities are the same as Big Game models in the same
size.
The Abel Arm was
designed in collaboration with castmeister Mel Krieger, and has been recognized
as the most significant improvement in the design and function of a fly
reel since the development of brass and nickel-plated models in pre-Civil
War days.
Now it's even better!
We've redesigned the foot to give you an even greater mechanical advantage,
moving the center of gravity further toward your hand and away from the
reel seat. About 1-1/2 inches long, and weighing less than 1/2-ounce, an
AbelArm is an invaluable addition both while casting or cranking. The resulting
improved balance affords greater comfort and significantly less fatigue
. . . similar to the difference of carrying an ax at the end of the handle
or gripping it directly behind the blade. Try it!
