LARGE ARBOR REEL PERFORMANCE ADVANTAGES
BAUER believes the
only acceptable design for a direct drive reel is one with a large arbor
spool. The large Arbor reel offers several advantages over a conventionally
spooled reel due to some basic mechanical principals.
CONSISTENT DRAG PRESSURE
The conventionally spooled reel has a dramatic 300% to 400% drag pressure increase when you get deep into your backing. This is due to the fact that the advantage the fish has over the reel drag resistance is the distance from the point where the line is coming off the spool to the center of the spindle (the lever arm length). So with a conventionally spooled reel this distance is being reduced rapidly as you get deep into your backing (ie: shorter lever arm), which greatly increases the pressure required to take line off the spool, effectively increasing your drag pressure as much as 400%. This is not a good situation when you also have an increasing amount of line in the water putting even more pressure on your tippet. The shallow depth of the Large Arbor spool keeps this change to a minimum since the distance to the center of the spindle changes very little from full to empty spool.
Quick Line Retrieval
When you need to retrieve a lot of line quickly, especially when a fish runs back at you, the Large Arbor reel will retrieve 23 times more line per revolution of the crank handle than a conventional reel. This is due to the larger diameter spool and arbor, which when empty can be as much as 3.5 times larger than a conventional reel.
IMPROVED LINE HANDLING
The Large Arbor reel reduces line coiling memory due to its larger diameter which will improve the casting performance of the line.
IMPROVED DRAG PRESSURE CONTROL
The large diameter spool of the Large Arbor reel turns at a much lower RPM than a conventional reel. This lower spool RPM enhances the palming control of the spool on a running fish. This improved palming control along with consistent reel drag pressure offers you the most effective package to battle and land your prize fish.
LARGE ARBOR REEL TO MATCH HIGH PERFORMANCE RODS
With the advances in fly rod building composites, we are fishing for larger fish with lighter weight rods that art more powerful than rods from just a few years ago. To achieve the true dynamics of these new generation fly rods, they need to he balanced with a light weight reel capable of handling large fish. The BAUER Large Arbor reels are the lightest weight large Arbor reels available with drag control .
BAUER reels have been put to the test the world over, from spring creek trout to screaming tarpon. BAUER reels ore the most innovative, simplest and lightest Large Arbor reels with drag control available. Check out the award winning BAUER reels, without a doubt, the best value.
