These reels have the style of the classics and use the best of modern technology. All parts are machined to close tolerances to provide you with a reel that will last a lifetime and be smooth enough to fish the lightest of tippets.

Trout reel features include:

• 1. Bearings - The bearings are oil impregnated bronze, which hold lubricant long after other materials have "run dry" and are hard enough to provide a lifetime of wear and remain true and smooth. We chose these type of bearings over ball bearings, roller bearings, etc., because they are best suited for the conditions of the real world, i.e.: sand, dirt, etc. As far as we know no one else uses these expensive bearings.
• 2. Bearing Shaft - The stainless steel shaft is centerless ground to exacting tolerances to provide a smoothness that is expected of a quality reel. Centerless ground means simply, that the shaft is machined so there is no slight bend or set and it is absolutelystraight.
• 3. No-Glare Finish - When we designed these reels we designed a reel to be fished and fished hard! The finish was of great concern. Since these reels are basically handmade, we wanted to preserve that look. Also, sincethese reels were madeto be fishing reels, ashiny finish would be detrimental for fishing to "spooky" fish. Our reels are anodized to prevent corrosion and provide a hard finish to resist scratches, etc.
• 4. The Pawl System - Our pawl system is our own in-house design and a patent has been applied for. With our system you may adjust the drag and also have right hand-left hand reversibility. We have also designed the pawl system to have a very smooth click out and in, not your typical "chainsaw" sound. The stainless steel pawl and gear are carefully matched for material compliance (so one is not harder than the other) and for close tolerances. The smooth ness of our reels, we feel, is one of the best available today.
• 5. Reel Integrity - The overall design of our reels is such, thatto maintain the smooth ness, strength, and the close tolerances needed, we had to forgo quick spool change capability. You can shake, twist and whatever our reels and they do not rattle or seem loose. All parts are machined, stampings or castings are not used. The combination of all of the above produces a reel that will last a lifetime, let you fish the lig htest of tippets and be the owner of a fine handcrafted fly reel.

PEERLESS NO. 5 & 6 SALMON REELS

The latest additions to our line of fly reels are our Peerless No. 5 & No. 6. These new reels are classified as big game reels. They were designed for salmon and steelhead fishing.

The demands on a reel for salmon fishing are quite different than for large trout. The first is line capacity, the second is the need for a positive drag system.

After spending many months testing and experimenting we have decided the best drag system for a salmon or steelhead reel was invented 90 years ago by Edward Vom Hole.

Using the latest technology and simple hard work, we have come up with the Peerless No. 5 & 6. These reels have all the virtues of the original Vom Hofe reels ie: positive, non-fading, non sticking and self wiping and are SMOOTHER than the original.

We believe these reels will perform to and meet the expectations of the most critical salmon and steelhead fisherman. The styling is similar to our other models, with the serpentine handle, one piece cage, spool, etc. The same care we give our trout reels is evident.

These reels will be available in small numbers due to the amount of handwork involved.
