Abel Pliers are designed for rigging saltwater leaders for tarpon, billfish,
wahoo, shard and other very fast. very tougth and very toothy gamefish.
Fo rthe Angler whowants the best there is, we offer two sizes of precision
machined pliers, shop-tested for 1,000+ cuts of 80-pound test Monel wire
and 100 cuts of 250-pound Nylon-coated braided wire. After that, they still
cut 7X mono.
The body of the pliers is of a high tensile strength anodized aluminum.
The serration on the handle tells your fingers the direction of the flush
cutting blade. The cutting edges are of a replaceable heat-treated, nickel
plated tool steel. The top and bottom replaceable insert cutting blades
slide into and are securely locked in the jaw channels.
Introduced five years ago, they are the standard of the world in use on
waters from Argentina to Alaska. Cut Monel wire or 8X tippet, remove the
hook from a shark, rig for tarpon or open a beer bottle. They have replaced
the hemostat for many fly-fishers. The are, indeed, wonderful fishing tools
and a lifetime investment.
Abel Model #2 Pliers at a remarkable 2.9 ounces are designed for all freshwater,
bass angling, saltwater and fly-fishing use, capable of bending down the
barb on a dry fly or cutting 175-pound braided wire. So light you'd carry
them in your pocket or on your belt and not notice theire there.
Abel Model #4 Pliers at 4.1 ounces are for fly-fishing and/or conventional
bluewater anglers. They'd remove a hook from a marlin or mako shark, cut
250-pound braided wire or any size monofiliment line made.

In a documented and notarized shop test, a #4 Model made- 1,000 consecutive
cuts of 80 pound test Monel wire, followed by 100 cuts of 250-pound test
Nylon-coated braided wire and ending with l00 cuts of 2-pound test lb-fishing
leader material. A copy of the notarized test proceedure and results is
available on request.
While it is unlikely that the tool steel jaws will ever wear out, should
it become necessary, we will replace them and correctly align the pliers'
jaws at the factory for $20 plus shipping.
